01. About me
My name is Timothy.
I'm a Cloud Architect.
02. What I do
Passionate future looking Cloud Architect with close to 15 years of experience in designing and implementing various technology stacks. Mainly focussed on medium and large/enterprise scaled companies.
Always looking out how to optimize infrastructure and automation processes, making the correct choices or right changes to your current IT environment.
Seasoned team lead, leading different kinds of teams and people.
03. Reference Projects
Creating a brand-new team from the ground on up. Staffing up the team, setting out the business strategy together with the CTO, designing and implementing a proprietary product concept (built around Microsoft Azure ARM and CI/CD pipelining (Azure DevOps and GitLab).
Sharing knowledge among the teams (evangelism), building strategic partner alliances (both vendor and customer relations) and landing/on-boarding the initial customers onto the platform.
Training the operational teams to get familiar with the Native Cloud Environments.
Here I was also the Stakeholder / Product Owner for Belgium division of the Pan-European Team and the technical counterpart in customer meetings for the Solution Architecture Team
I also had the honor of leading the company in a Usage Based Billing approach for both its Public and Private Cloud offerings.
Independent architectural design, workshop and brainstorm sessions took place, in order to guide with the correct vendor-independent advice, to have a good idea on where to start implementing virtualization technologies and how to make the correct assumptions/approach in terms of resilience and recovery times after failure.
Migrating the older VMware Virtual Datacenter onto a new supported version of it.
Made optimizations in the older codebase, introduced newer concepts in terms of self-service provisioning, where I had a strict look at multi-tenancy and last but not least, implemented new features that were introduced into the company over the last few years.
For one of the larger Belgian Managed Cloud Providers I did the VMware Validated Design Architecture to create a new, next-gen, zero-touch Cloud.
This platform was stretched across multiple Belgian On-Premise Data Centers, with the possibility to stretch to both major Public Azure and AWS clouds.
Orchestration was based on vSphere 6.5 and vRealize Suite 5.8. Automation technologies were both Ansible Tower and vRealize Orchestrator.
For the Public Cloud part of this story, research and and implementation of an Azure and AWS Sandbox was done. This in order to get the local team started with Public Cloud and Hybrid Cloud topologies.
Images and User Experiences was guaranteed by using Packer.
